ABOUT THE ARTIST

Frances Cannon (they/them) is a queer, multidisciplinary artist based in Melbourne/Narrm. They have solid practices in many mediums including pen and ink, oil painting, digital design, silversmithing and occasionally ceramics and soft sculpture. Frances is well known for their simple yet nuanced style of illustration. Frances' work examines ideas of body-love and body-loathing, anxiety, relationships, sex and sexuality, gender, and bodily functions. Their work can be viewed as diaristic as it is based on personal experience. Frances has had many successful solo shows locally and internationally. They have worked with Teen-Vogue, Gucci, Refinery 29, Third Drawer Down, and has been published in Vogue, Frankie, Yen, Teen-Vogue, Bustle, HuffPost, Dazed and Confused, Vogue, SBS Australia, i-D Mag, Rookie and many more. Frances is the co-owner and director of Pink Ember Studio in Coburg.
